To our eager computer users,

Welcome to the GE 118, our Technology Skills Center (TSC). Join us in the lab to receive training on the use of software; register for an e-mail account, and help your students learn to use various computer applications. This week, the lab is open Monday through Thursday from 9AM to 5PM and on Friday from 9:00AM to 2:00PM. Subsequent weeks, the lab will be open from 9:00AM to 7:00PM.  Our able assistants will be glad to help you in the lab during those hours.

Registered SJCC students are welcome to use the lab as long as they follow the designated lab policies and procedures, which involve, in general, using the lab to complete class assignments. To use the TSC during any of the open lab hours, students must enroll in one of the following:

Course materials are provided free of charge to enrolled students. After attending the 2 introductory sessions, students complete the course materials at their own speed during open-lab hours. We also distribute CDs containing all of the course materials to students. We are also scheduling 1/2 hour orientation sessions in the TSC for instructors and their classes. You can schedule this session at your convenience, but please sign the Lab Orientation Registration sheet so that our Title III lab staff can provide effective instruction for you and your students in the use of the lab and the equipment. This orientation session consists of an overview of the following items:

·         Lab policies and procedures, including registration and open lab hours

·         Software available in the lab (See the Technology Skills Center Orientation Guide for details.)

·         Tutorial materials available for use in the lab

For detailed information about the Title III courses and course materials, please see the Title 3 Web site at:       http://www.sjcc.edu/title3. The course materials, stored in both .pdf (Adobe Acrobat) and html formats, are available for downloading. The Title III Orientation Guide lists the software available in the Title       III labs as well as information about how to use the equipment, such as scanners and microphones, to scan photos and record voice messages.

Should students need additional instruction in software programs, please let us know so that we can test the software in our lab.

If you have any questions about our GE 118, Technology Skills Center, please stop by the lab and settle down to a comfortable session with a computer.

We'll be glad to help overcome any computer-related fears and phobias and substitute a healthy respect for our new computers.

-Your Title III Staff
